Cape Charles Town Harbor

TownHarbor2The Town of Cape Charles Harbor ably hosts a unique mix of commercial, industrial, and recreational vessels in its protective basin, boasting 95 slips and 1400 feet of dock space. Whether for work or play, patrons will enjoy access to the greatest fishing areas on the Chesapeake Bay. Visitors can watch watermen haul in and off-load their daily catches. The harbor’s state-of-the-art public boat ramps are enjoyed by both individual pleasure and sport fishing crafts as well as the charter boats that run expeditions daily for fresh local fish. Transient vessels appreciate the harbor for its deepwater slips and docks and short walk to Historic Downtown, where a variety of shops, restaurants and actives are available. And, Cape Charles Harbor has been designated a “VIRGINIA CLEAN MARINA“.

Approach from the Bay and Cape Charles Channel to Cherry Stone Inlet Channel. Use NOAA Chart 12224.

From the Cape Charles Town jetty and fishing pier proceed to Day Mark “2” Fl R 2.5s and G”3” (Heading @ 022m). Use the dolphin (tripod of pilings) as a range between these two navigational aids. Be sure to back-range (look behind you) as the current in this channel can approach 2 knots at times, and in conjunction with the wind, will set the mariner out of the channel. Come right once past R”4″ to 093m and proceed down the channel favoring cans 3B & 3C off your port heading to G”5” and R”6”. (NOTE:  DISREGARD DAY MARK 2CI. THIS DAY MARK IS FOR ANOTHER CHANNEL AND NOT FOR YOUR APPROACH INTO KINGS CREEK). Continue to follow the marked channel on into Kings Creek. Hail the marina once past R”4″ on channel 16.  You’ll be asked to switch and answer our working channel. Dock hands with Oyster Farm Marina will be happy to assist you with dock lines, hook-ups and any other boating needs that you may have upon your arrival into Kings Creek.
