Gull Hummock! What is a gull hummock? In Eastern Shore parlance, a hummock is a little island that appears out in the marshes at low tides, a place of respite for gulls, terns, and shorebirds, a place to perch and preen and plan for the next meal.
We named our gourmet provisions shop “Gull Hummock” because we wanted it to be a place for all people to come in, perch, and relax, and while here to sample some of the Eastern Shore’s (and the world’s) wonderful foods and beverages. Our belief is that nourishing, delicious food is a must for a good life: as Virginia Woolf said, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” We offer regular wine tastings on weekends and often have tastings of local artisanal chocolates, breads, and cheeses as well. Our selection of wines and beers is splendid, we think you’ll agree, and we have a wide selection of products that are gluten-free, including pastas, crackers, and chips.
Come in and visit with us soon. We want everyone to know what we love and value so much about life on the Eastern Shore: the slow preparation of delicious meals with family and loved ones, and the lively conversations at the table, experiences that nourish the body and soul alike. At Gull Hummock, we want you to be part of our extended family and share your stories of those perfect meals and perfect moments that add up to a wonderful life.
Wine Tastings every Friday: 4:30pm – 6pm and Saturday 2pm – 5:30pm
